Post 11: My metaphor
Personally, I really enjoyed Shakespeare's metaphor in "From Macbeth (Act V, Scene v) which reads "It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing." (line 8-10, page 431 in our book) I chose this metaphor, mostly because recently I've been very stuck on the idea of not being able to plan very far into the future- not that I've gotten to the point of thinking everything is necessarily frivolous, but that a lot of what I spend time on doesn't matter in the long run. I also just really thought the metaphor was interesting.
My Poem:
She wakes up, and ponders on her plans for the day.
What thing does she need to pick up?
Who does she need to see?
It's peculiar the way she insists for her days to be filled to the brim,
barely giving herself time to think.
But,
when she does, she always comes to this conclusion on life;
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.
Anyway, she's off to the mall.
I can relate. Especially with everything in the world going on. It's hard to focus on what matters, or what should matter. I enjoyed your poem a lot, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your poem! Especially when you said, " Anyway, she's off to the mall."
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to fall into the idea that nothing we're doing matters on a larger scale, but it's up to us to make what we do matter. I've personally fallen into this pit of apathy, and while I don't mean to say that's what your poem means, reading it feels a bit personal because of how I've viewed life in the past. Excellent poem.
